Prayer in a Backpack - Lord, Help Us in Our Lives

Paul L started our brains in motion for the weekend with a "backpack prayer" -- basically, a bunch of everyday items (that could be in your backpacks) that can represent different ways to relate to God...

+ Walkman: Lord, help us tune out distractions in our lives
+ Watch: Lord, help us to slow down and make time for you
+ Jewelry: Lord, help me to put people before things
+ Map: Lord, help us to accept Your plan for us
+ Mirror: Lord, help us look within people for their beauty
+ Teddy Bear: Lord, help us set aside insecurities to take risks and follow You
+ Dollar: Lord, help us to see that cost does not determine the real value of things
+ Scissors: Lord, help us to cut the bad habits and dependencies out of our lives
+ Calculator: Lord, help us to put faith before facts and figures... help us to believe
   that which we cannot see

Every day our lives are quite full. We have school, and all the fun homework and projects that go along with it. We have activities, like theater, sports, clubs and music. We have families to please, and friends that we only wish we could spend more time with, just to hang out. And, sometimes just thinking about the "big stuff", like college applications or applying for that awesome job, can seem almost overbearing...

It is quite easy to get all caught up in these everyday activities -- everything becomes routine, and time flies by... but, it is important to remember to take some time for God and your faith as well. Make it a part of that crazy routine, integrating and fusing it with our regular lives...
