Clay Activity - What Do We Value?
It is important to know what matters most to us - whether it’s a special person, getting the coolest car, succeeding in a certain career, getting good grades, God, going to a good college or whatever else is out there. We all have something that drives us. Something that we care so deeply about shapes our actions. Knowing what these things are help us define who we are and enables us to set goals, plan for the future, and to stand up to peer pressure and criticism.
What matters to us changes over time. Experience teaches us that some things do not really matter and that other things do. For this weekend, though, everyone thought about what was most important to them. Then Kyle asked us to shape the ball of clay into something that represents that.
No specific answer was being sought. Twelve different representations of Jesus was not the goal. We just molded what was important to all of us, whatever it was. It is important to remember that as we continue to think about who we are and where we are going, what we value will shape the journey we take and the people we become.
